I love to take road trips all over the country, and I drive by myself mostly!! I was referred to see Doctor Merkley and I’m so so grateful I did! He has performed cataract removal surgery for both eyes. I can see close up and far away and have no more astigmatism! I haven’t had 20/20 vision in decades!! The surgery was so easy and no one needs to be afraid that they won’t see completely after cataract surgery. It’s performed so quickly and Doctor Merkley is gentle and has the best bedside manner! If you need cataracts removed please go see Dr Merkely!! He’s the absolute best!!Posted on Justin Jackson2025-08-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It's hard to put into words exactly just how satisfied I am with the results of the SMILE surgery Dr. Merkley performed. It was quick, painless and the results were immediately noticeable. You don't even look like someone who has had surgery when it's completed and I could see things at distances that I haven't seen in 30 years. His staff are kind and amazing professionals that are passionate about what they do. Currently, it has been a week since my surgery and every day that has passed since my sight just continues to improve. I highly recommend Dr.M and appreciate Merkley Eye Care Center for liberating me from having to wear eyeglasses for the for"see"able future. 5 stars, thumbs up and high fives!Posted on Sam Evans2025-07-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It's hard to write a review about an experience that has truly changed someone's life for the better without getting emotional, but I'll try my best. I am highly myopic (> -18 in both eyes), over 50 years old, and developed cataracts earlier than most because of my high myopic prescription. The strange thing is, I didn't realize how much the cataracts had impacted my vision until after I had the surgery (more on that later). I was referred to Dr. Merkley's practice by my regular eye doctor, and I am so very thankful for that recommendation! From the moment I entered, I knew I was in great hands. The office is warm and welcoming, and the staff even more so (thank you, Kim and Marissa!). They made sure I was comfortable throughout each appointment and took the time to explain each step of the process to me, as well as answer my numerous questions in between appointments (sorry, Kim! 😊). Dr. Merkley is hands down one of the nicest, most caring, and most patient doctors I have ever worked with. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and given my complex prescription, I had a lot of concerns. His confidence put my fears to rest, and I am here to say I am not disappointed. The surgery process was easy and painless. Dr. Merkley and the staff made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure. The first thing I noticed moments after surgery was how well I could see without glasses—and how bright and vibrant all the colors were! I cannot thank Dr. Merkley and his staff enough for all that they have done. Hands down, one of the most professional practices in the valley.Posted on William Armstrong2025-05-23Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I rarely write reviews on exceptionally positive service, but feel like my experience with Dr Marley warrants it. Like most people, I was apprehensive about any procedures dealing with the eyes. I’ve had numerous surgeries during my 82 years, and am amazed at how painless and smooth this cataract surgery went from the initial appointment through post-surgery follow-up. The staff provides verbal and written instructions and you never leave the office thinking “ why didn’t I ask this.” The process was easy; follow pre-op instructions, show up, get prepped, short procedure and wake up with an unbelievable improvement in vision. In my case absolutely painless. I’ve already recommended several friends and relatives to Dr Marley.Posted on Jessica Greene2025-05-21Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The staff, facilities, and care provided were second to none! I am one week post op from my SMILE procedure and have had no pain, complications, or symptoms. I was recently (a month ago) given the gift of sight by Dr. Merkle and could not be happier. Ok, so this isn’t just any review – it’s an in-depth account of my journey & experiences along the way along with what I discovered as I did my research into cataracts surgery. The good and the bad. I’ve been “legally blind” since I was 15. 20/800 vision in both eyes and extreme myopia. Glasses & contacts have dominated my life. Recently I discovered multi-focal lenses and at 60, that was a total game changer. But the extreme halos they produced caused me to use glasses at night. So that was the downside to multi-focal contact lenses. About 6 mos ago I was diagnosed w/ cataracts in both eyes. At first, I was mortified, but after doing a ton of research, discovered this is VERY common, and everyone gets clouding of the lens as we age. And cataracts surgery is the most common surgery done in the USA with very high success rates, assuming you choose the right Dr to perform the surgery. Additional choices along the way also affect your happiness factor with the end result. I had several goals. 1) I cannot live with seeing even slight halos at night as I drive a LOT at night and to me it is dangerous 2) I want as perfect distance vision as possible. 3) I want the best Dr. possible to do the surgery. My ophthalmologist is Dr. Darrin Heiner and he’s one of the best, and trust me when I say I’ve seen dozens of ophthalmologists over the years. His strong recommendation based on my stated goals was to go see Dr. Merkle. So, I did. At my first appt I was blown away not only w/ the professionalism of his team, but as a life-long Electronics Engineer, I was impressed with the attention to detail on the selection of very high-tech measurement devices he uses. He has the best of the best. Of course, being an engineer, I demanded a full explanation of what each machine does and why it’s used. It feels like you’re in a circus ride going from machine to machine, but each device has its purpose, and he uses 3 different, state-of-the-art machines to dial in the prescription for your lens implant. His assistant Kim, was gracious and patiently explained everything. More on these last 3 machines later. Surgery was scheduled and I arrived at the facility a couple weeks later. All very professional, hyper-clean, and fun staff. I relayed my morphine intolerance concerns to the guy giving me the sedation drugs and told him I wanted to be in La-La land the entire time. In the procedure room I recall asking the male nurse if he had a breakfast burrito hidden in his hair net that covered his gigantic, Idaho-style beard. I have no idea of there was one in there because the next thing I recall is sitting in the chair waiting for my wife to pick me up. Make sure you relay any sedation concerns before your procedure. If you can talk to the doc before the procedure starts, you’re not ready yet. If you’re dreaming about breakfast burritos on a beach in Mexico, you’re good to go. The dilatation drugs used for this procedure are intense and keep your eyes dilated for 24+ hours, so buy a pair of heavy-duty DARK sunglasses on Amazon ( LOCS Sunglasses Hardcore Black 0103) and bring them. You’ll thank for this tip. The following week I had the other eye done. Same story – smooth as butter. I’m a month post op and just finished my last appointment. My vision is 20/15 in BOTH eyes. Now I get it - those 3 prescription measurement machines in Merkle’s lab are worth their weight in gold. I now wake up and don’t fumble for glasses. My night vision is perfect. Last night I stared at the crystal-clear sky for an hour marveling at how clear my vision is. I had no idea there were so many stars in the sky…. To say I’m happy with the result is an understatement. If you’re on the fence about this, just go see Dr. Merkle and put your mind at ease.Posted on Deb Potts2025-03-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Merkley is not only very professional and an excellent surgeon, he is a nice person. He did cataract surgery on me in Febuary 2025. The results are excellent! I didn't know it was possible for humans see this well! Highly recommend him.
